Eire Óg have served notice of their intention to hold on to Jack Daly after a ruthless opening round win in the Clare senior football championship.

The Townies dispatched Clondegad with ease, as 1-6 from Philip Talty helped them to a 1-15 to 0-7 win.

Elsewhere in that group, Miltown had Cian Mahony’s goal to thank as their big score in a 1-14 to 0-14 win over Doonbeg.

St Joseph’s Doora Barefield put themselves in prime position to claim one of the three quarter-final spots from Group One, with Oisín O’Donnell’s late goal helping them see off Corofin by 1-11 to 0-12.

Kilmurry Ibrickane also put one foot in the last eight after seeing off St Breckan’s by the minimum on a 2-10 to 2-9 scoreline.

Cathal McInerney led the charge for Cratloe as he landed 0-7 for the south-east Clare men as they beat Lissycasey by 0-12 to 1-7, while Ennistymon were impressive winners over Kildysart by 2-10 to 0-9, with the goals coming from Keelan Guyler and David Fitzgerald.

In the intermediate championship, Kilrush beat Cooraclare, Wolfe Tones overcame O’Curry’s, Naomh Eoin got the better of Liscannor, Coolmeen edged out Ennistymon, The Banner beat Kilfenora, while Shannon Gaels and Kilmihil finished level.
