Road Traffic Collision Dealt With On N18 This Afternoon

Emergency services have dealt with a road traffic collision on the N18 dual-carriageway near Bunratty this afternoon.

The single-vehicle collision occurred at around 1.45pm in the southbound lanes about 500 metres past Bunratty Village. It’s understood the car left the road and mounted a wall.

Two units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Shannon and two additional appliances from Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene along with Gardaí and National Ambulance Service paramedics.

It’s understood that the two occupants of the car were assessed at the scene and were found not to be injured.

An emergency traffic management system was implemented at the scene and traffic was kept moving although traffic was backed up for over a kilometre at times.

Once the crashed car was recovered from the scene, the road was fully reopened shortly after 3.00pm.

Traffic Infrastructure Ireland (TII) motorway maintenance crews also attended the incident.
