The resumption of the Clare soccer season has been put on hold due to rising Covid-19 case numbers.

League officials have opted to delay a return to action until the weekend of January 22nd.

The last round of fixtures before the Christmas break saw Newmarket Celtic regain top spot in the league standings, with Shannon Town and Avenue United heading up the chasing pack.

Meanwhile Avenue and Ennis Town will both be on the road for their fifth round ties in the FAI Junior Cup.

Both Clare clubs face Dublin opposition as Avenue take on Yellowstone with Ennis Town meet Ballymun.
