It’s claimed a significant jump in the number of German tourists in particular visiting Ireland spells good news for the tourism sector in Clare.

Figures released by the CSO show that in the first three months of the year, 1.92 people arrived in Ireland from overseas, an almost 7 percent compared to the same period last year.

That equates to around 125,000 additional arrivals, with the numbers coming from Germany alone jumping by over 30 percent in a year.
