Clare’s stay in Division Two of the National Football League is over following defeat to table toppers Derry in Owenbeg this afternoon.

The Ulstermen thoroughly dominated proceedings on home turf and rendered the Banner scoreless in the opening period with the usual suspects of Conor Glass, Benny Heron & Shane McGuigan leading the charge.

Clare improved in the second period with contributions from Emmet McMahon, Keelan Sexton, Pierce Lillis and Dermot Coughlan adding some gloss to the end result as the full time whistle blew on a full time score of Clare 0-04 to Derry 0-14.

That result, coupled with Kildare’s win over Limerick, sees both Clare and Limerick drop to Division Three for 2024.
