The man who guided Newmarket Celtic to their maiden FAI Junior Cup title says his players deserve great credit for creating their own history.

A penalty shootout win over St Michael’s saw Newmarket become the first club from Clare to win the title, in what was just the second time a Banner side had reached the decider.

They will have a chance to make it a national and provincial double in two weeks time when they face Regional United in the Munster Junior Cup final.

Manager Paddy Purcell says being crowned champions of Ireland is something they will cherish forever.
