Further Progress Needed To Ensure Retention Of Shannon Aviation Search And Rescue Crew

Clare’s Fianna Fáíl Senator is calling on the government to exhaust all efforts to ensure this county’s helicopter search and rescue personnel are retained.

Under transfer of Employment Regulations (TUPE) Bristow LTD is legally obliged to take on employees at bases at Shannon, Sligo, Waterford and Dublin on their existing terms and conditions.

However the legislation does not apply to pension entitlements, leading to uncertainty surrounding the future of Irish Coast Guard Search and Rescue Aviation crews now that the new contractor is coming into the fold.
