The Garda Commissioner has admitted they still don’t know if the recording of a fake one million breath tests was deliberate or an error.

Noirín O’Sullivan has appeared before the Oireachtas Justice committee over the latest scandals to hit the force.

She has apologised, insisted no one person is to blame and that everything must take responsibility from the top down and the bottom up.

The Commissioner says while they know of the problem they still can’t say why it happened.

Clare Fine Gael Senator Martin Conway was among those asking questions of the Commissioner today.

Amid reports that more data-related controversies could emerge, he asked Noirín O’Sullivan what else could be coming down the tracks.

Meanwhile, the Housing Minister has defended Noirin O’Sullivan’s position.

Simon Coveney says some people were trying to undermine the Commissioner, and that she should be supported in a bid to reform the Gardaí instead.
