O’Connor Cleared To Face Clare After Offaly Red Card Is Rescinded

Wexford have been handed a boost ahead of Sunday’s National Hurling League clash with Clare.

Jack O’Connor will be available for selection after the Model County successfully appealed the red card shown to him during their draw with Offaly a fortnight ago.

O’Connor was sent off for alleged dangerous play by referee Sean Stack after a tangle with David King in which he was adjudged to have made contact with the Offaly man’s helmet during an aerial tussle.

Replays suggested that the sending off was harsh, and the GAA’s Central Hearings Committee ruled that the infraction was not proven, and no penalty is imposed.

Charlie McGuckin will miss out though after being sent off in the same game, for a head high challenge on Offaly captain Jason Sampson.

Both management teams will name their squads for the game later this (Friday) evening.
