Nurses Call For HSE Review Of Weekend Activity As Hospital Trolley Number Soar

Nurses are calling on the HSE to immediately carry out a full review of weekend activity across all hospital sites and in the community sector.

It comes as the latest INMO figures show there were 709 patients on hospital trolleys across the country this morning.

University Hospital Limerick was the busiest in the country, where 90 were waiting for beds, 38 of those in the Emergency Department.

Nurses’ union, the INMO says they’ve seen a pattern of extremely high levels of overcrowding following week and that the pressure that nurses and midwives are under can no longer be sustained at this level.
