Number Of Planning Permissions Granted In Clare Drops By Nearly 25% In Final Quarter Of 2021

The number of planning permissions granted for houses and apartments in Clare dropped by nearly 25% in the last quarter of 2021.

However, the number of apartments given the green light jumped by almost 140% in the space of three months.

139 houses and 28 apartments were given the go-ahead for Clare in the final quarter of 2021.

That compares to 207 homes and 5 flats in the three months prior.

This marks a 23.7% drop in approved applications.

The uptake in the number of apartments that were green-lit in the last three months of 2021 marks an interesting turning point in Clare’s housing market.

Traditionally, demand to build apartments has been low, however, the need for such housing is becoming more and more apparent – given the near 140% rise in applications for these units.

Overall there were 605 new applications in this county in 2021 – 560 for houses and 45 for apartments.

Meanwhile, there were 248 extensions applied for last year, and 95 alterations or conversions.
