Number of Covid Patients At Region’s Main Hospital Still Rising

The HSE is warning that the number of people in intensive care with Covid-19 may soon exceed the previous records.

There were 1,151 people in hospital with the virus this morning, including 83 at University Hospital Limerick, a rise of 6 on the same time yesterday.

While 101 people are receiving treatment in Intensive Care Units across the country, with 7 of those in the ICU at UHL.

The national figure is the highest since the start of April, and the HSE’s Chief Operations Officer Anne O’Connor says while hospitals are coping, it’s only because non-Covid care has been scaled back.
