Clare U20 football boss Michael Neylon admits his side were simply beaten by the better team on the night as their championship season ended at the first hurdle.

A brace of goals in either half saw Waterford continue their dominance of this fixture in Fraher Field as they ran out winners by 4-5 to 1-9.

Mark McInerney’s second half penalty helped Clare claw their way back into the lead after trailing at half time, but the Deise routinely punished Banner errors to regain control in the closing stages.
