Newmarket-on-Fergus Councillor Says Government Should Prioritise Housing And Health Over Military Concerns

A Newmarket-on-Fergus councillor insists that Ireland should be prioritising areas such as housing and health over expanding its military capacity.

The Consultative Forum on International Security Policy got underway this week, which aims to “build public understanding and generate discussions” on Ireland’s foreign, security and defence policies.

The subject of Ireland’s military neutrality has been widely discussed in recent days following President Michael D Higgins’s remarks that the country is in the midst of a dangerous “drift” in its foreign policy.
