Mid West Hospital Campaign To Press Taoiseach On ULHG Commitment To Explore Model 3 Hospital In Region

The Mid West Hospital campaign will press the Taoiseach on the UL Hospital Group’s commitment to explore the provision of a model 3 hospital in the region during his visit this afternoon.

It’s emerged that no new acute beds will be opened in the region this year, according to figures released to Clare Independent TD Michael McNamara, in response to a parliamentary question.

The HSE’s Acute Operations department says none of the six hospitals in the UL Hospitals Group will receive any of the 209 acute beds scheduled to be opened this year subject to staffing and completion of some capital works.

Following HIQA’s daming inspection report from March of last year, the UL Hospitals Group pledged to explore the idea of providing a model 3 hospital with the national system.
