Eire Óg manager Paul Madden feels his squad were rewarded for a hardworking performance as they picked up their first points of the 2021 Clare Senior Football championship.

A trio of goals from the Townies saw them post the highest scoring tally of the opening weekend as they registered a 3-10 to 0-9 win over Lissycasey.

It sees them now in a strong position to claim a quarter final spot with games against Clondegad and Doonbeg to come when action resumes in four weeks time.

Madden says getting the win was a positive but it was the attitude his players showed which was key.

Meanwhile Cratloe boss Colm Collins admits his side were forced to battle hard before securing their opening points of the campaign.

Cooraclare were left to rue missed goal chances as the south east Clare men claimed a 1-13 to 0-10 win, thanks in part to Diarmuid Ryan’s first half goal.

Collins says while there is plenty for his side to work on ahead of this weekend’s clash with Miltown, he is pleased to have the points in the bag.
