Levels Of Overcrowding At UHL Begins To Spiral

The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is beginning to spiral.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation’s latest trolleywatch analysis shows there were 78 people waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick today, 47 of those on trolleys in the Emergency Department.

It comes as the Dooradoyle facility continues to deal with an outbreak of Covid-19 which is affecting three wards.

The number of patients being treated at UHL has decreased considerably today.

HSE figures show there were 73 Covid patients this morning, down 11 on the same time yesterday, while ICU numbers have reduced by 2, to 9.
