A Kilrush salon owner fears hairdressers’ doors will close if the government doesn’t address problems in the industry.

It follows a recent survey by the Irish Hairdressers Federation, which highlighted severe difficulty owing to the introduction of new legislation, which saw an increase to the national minimum wage and employees’ entitlement to paid sick leave.

The IHF has called for an urgent meeting with Government Minsiters to fdiscuss ways to urgently help safeguard the future of the industry.

Owner of Coco-Lemon hair salon in Frances Street, Kilrush, Dawn Bennett, says it’s becoming too hard for many in the industry to stay open.
