One of Kilmaley’s former Clare senior hurling championship winners feels the current group are ready for the challenge of taking on the holders of the Canon Hamilton this weekend.
A derby showdown against defending champions Ballyea awaits in Cusack Park on Saturday evening, with Kilmaley’s wait for a third ever title now in its 19th year.
The mid-Clare side will be without a number of key players through injury and travel, but county star Conor Cleary is expected to be available to anchor the defence.
2004 winner Conor McMahon, who is part of the management team, says they are looking forward to getting the championship underway.
