Kilmaley are the 2017 Clare Intermediate Hurling champions.

A dominant performance saw them beating Tubber by 2-20 to 0-11 in the decider to regain their status in the senior championship.

The game was tight for the opening 25 minutes as Kilmaley dominated but could never stretch clear.

Sean O’Loughlin then pounced for a goal just before the half time whistle and it saw Kilmaley lead at the break by 1-9 to 0-4.

That score seemed to break Tubber’s resolve, with Kilmaley taking over after the restart, with 0-3 from play from Daire Keane, 0-2 from Mikey O’Malley while Cian Moloney hit 0-4 from placed balls.

Try as they might, Tubber couldn’t answer but they had two late goals chances as Bryan O’Loughlin produced a brilliant hook as the goal was at the mercy of Domhnall McMahon while Ronan Taffe saw his 20m free saved by Colin McGuane.

Veteran Alan Markham put the icing on the cake with a goal in injury time to see Kilmaley take a 15 point win.

They now go on to a Munster Club campaign where they will face the Limerick champions in a quarter final tie in Cusack Park in two weeks time.
