IAA Figures Show Extent Of Traffic Fall-Off At Shannon

New figures have revealed of the extent of the drop in traffic at Shannon Airport last month.

The Irish Aviation Authority has today revealed that Shannon handled 364 flights across the month, representing an almost 80% decrease on the same month last year.

Traffic at Dublin Airport was down by just shy of 90% and Cork’s commercial air traffic fell by almost 94%, as the statistics reveal the extent of the crisis in the sector.

The Chief Executive of the IAA Peter Kearney has said that while the collapse in air traffic levels has been swift and sudden, they’re hopeful the decline has reached the bottom and attention can now turn to re-opening aviation in Ireland’s interest.
