Hopes That Job Losses At IT Firm In Shannon Can Be Avoided

Hopes have been expressed that potential job losses at a major IT firm in Shannon can be kept to a minimum.

The company behind US firm Avocent, which develops and distributes IT solutions and products for the European, Middle Eastern, African and Asian markets, has confirmed staffing changes at its Irish operations are being considered.

A spokesperson for Vertiv, Avocent’s parent company, says the reconfiguration is part of efforts to deliver products and services in the most effective and affordable way possible, and that it will keep employees informed of any developments.

Up to 100 people are employed at the facility and Shannon Sinn Féin Councillor Mike McKee has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that he hopes job losses can be avoided.
