Health Minister Announces Additional Hospital Bed Capacity For Clare

The Health Minister has announced a timeline for additional bed capacity and the extension of service opening hours in Clare.

Speaking at a visit to University Hospital Limerick this afternoon, Minister Stephen Donnelly has confirmed 20 permanent step-down transition and rehab beds will come on stream in Clare between July and September of this year.

Separately, the opening hours of the Medical Assessment Unit at Ennis Hospital will be extended to 8am to midnight by September while the service will be made 24/7 by December.

With the first of two 96-bed blocks to be opened at UHL early next year, Minister Donnelly claims the new beds in Ennis will offset capacity issues for the time being.
