Hayes: Newmarket Celtic’s League Title Win Vital For Club

The captain of the Newmarket Celtic side who regained their Clare Premier Division title admits their domestic crown was a big target for the squad.

The FAI Junior Cup champions claimed their title back from Avenue United with a 2-1 win in their league playoff tie.

It was the holders who struck first to take the lead, but goals from Darragh Leahy and Harvey Cullinan were enough to give Newmarket a 2-1 win.

Captain Eoin Hayes, who will line out with Ireland in the Nations Cup this week, says it was a fitting way to end their season.
