Harty To Reconsider Government Support If Post Offices Are Cut

Clare’s Independent TD says he will consider his support for the minority government in the event of cuts to the post office network.

Deputy Michael Harty has expressed frustration at how, in his words, the Fine Gael led government has “forgotten its commitments” under the Programme for Partnership government.

Dr. Harty, a member of the Rural Independent Group of TDs, is warning that closing post offices will undermine villages and towns, and also betray the trust between government partners.
