‘Groundhog Day’ For UHL Staff Says Midwest INMO Rep As Overcrowding Continues

The Midwest representative of the country’s main nursing union says continued overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is becoming like ‘Groundhog Day’ for staff there.

Outpatient appointments at University Hospital Limerick are again cancelled today, as the facility continues to manage what it describes as an ‘unprecedented level’ of attendance at its emergency department.

The UL Hospitals Group says anyone with a ‘less urgent condition’ who presents to the ED is facing an ‘exceptionally long’ wait for treatment.
