Garda Appeal For Witneses After Hit And Run In Ennis

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run incident in Ennis.

A cyclist was struck by a vehicle near Glór last Wednesday evening.

A Garda investigation is underway after a young woman, cycling her bike at the Friars Walk roundabout between Dunnes and Glór was struck by a vehicle at around half past five last Wednesday evening.

The woman was dragged into the middle of the roundabout by the vehicle that left in the direction of Dunnes, towards Station Road.

The car that failed to stop is described as a small black Ford Focus, 2005 to 2011 model, with an L or N plate in the rear window.

Gardaí say the young lady wasn’t seriously injured in the incident but was hurt and shaken.

The Roads Policing Unit is asking anyone who witnessed this hit and run, or anyone that may have camera or dash cam footage, to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 68 48 100.

Meanwhile, a Garda investigation is underway into an armed robbery from a shop in Ennis.

Shortly after 6 o’clock on Thursday evening last, a man wearing a hoodie entered a business premises in Clare Road Mall on the Clare Road.

He was holding a knife and demanded money from the staff member.
