The GAA has suspended all club games across the country with immediate effect.

In a statement, the body announced the decision has been taken in the interests of public safety following ‘a number of incidents’ in the last few days.

Clare’s senior hurlers and footballers are due to begin their Munster championship campaigns later this month, along with the Banner’s camogie and ladies football sides.

It comes as both Corofin GAA and Kilrush RFC confirmed over the weekend they’re ceasing operations for two weeks for the safety of players and supporters.

Clare’s minor football squad continues to self-isolate following a confirmed case of COVID-19 amongst the panel.

They’re due to open their championship campaign against Tipperary in less than three weeks time.
