A former Ennis pub is set to be put to use as residential accommodation.

McHugh’s Bar on Parnell Street called last orders for the final time in March 2022 and has been vacant since.

D Madigan Properties submitted a planning application on August 16th of last year for the change of use of the building, which is a protected structure, to four two-storey dwellings and two one-bedroom properties, all with individual entrances.

The change of use involves the removal of an existing extension to the side and a porch to the front of the premises, as well as the construction of a two-storey extension to the rear of the building and the necessary sub-divisions.

Clare County Council has approved the application subject to 12 conditions.
