Fitzgerald Set For A Return To Clare Club Hurling Management With O’Callaghan’s Mills

2013 All Ireland winning manager Davy Fitzgerald is set for a return to club management in Clare.

Clare FM understands the two time All Ireland winning goalkeeper will link up with joint Clare camogie manager Conor Dolan to take over the reins at O’Callaghan’s Mills.

The East Clare side parted company with Donach O’Donnell after their opening round loss in the senior hurling championship against Ballyea on Saturday. The management team who worked under O’Donnell are to remain in situ under the new set-up.

It means Sunday’s showdown of the Mills and Clarecastle will see Fitzgerald taking on his former team-mate Anthony Daly, who is part of the coaching team with the Magpies.

Dolan will assume the mantle of manager, with Fitzgerald linking up a a coach as part of the management team. Colm Fitzgerald, who was also part of the Clare camogie set up in 2022, is also set for a role in the coaching team with the club.

Fitzgerald helped lead his native Sixmilebridge to county titles in 2019 and 2020 alongside Tim Crowe before leaving his position in the management team after last year’s campaign.

He is currently part of the Cork camogie management team under the stewardship of Matthew Twomey who will contest this year’s All Ireland final against Kilkenny.
