Fitzgerald Red Card Upheld By Central Hearings Committee

David Fitzgerald’s one match ban following his sending off against Cork last weekend has been upheld by the Central Hearings Committee.

The 2022 All Star was shown a straight red card in the closing stages of the game, following an alleged strike on Rebel defender Rob Downey.

His case was heard this week, with the committee deciding that the charge of “striking with hand with minimal force” was proven and upheld.

The Inagh-Kilnamona man has the option to bring a case to the Central Appeals Committee, but as it stands, he is now set to miss Clare’s championship opener against Tipperary on April 23rd.
