Gardaí fear a high powered car stolen from a house in Clarecastle may have been targetted specifically for use in the commission of crime.

At around 4.30, in the early hours of last Thursday morning, a house in the village was broken into by forcing access through a rear door.

The keys to the owners car were taken and the car was stolen.

The Audi S3 hatchback, with a 3 litre engine, has distinctive features including chrome surround on the window pillars, custom black wheels, and chrome wing mirrors.

The car was later spotted travelling southbound on the M20 in County Limerick.
