Fears More Business Rate Hikes Could Be On The Cards

The President of Ennis Chamber has warned that businesses in smaller towns in the county could face a massive jump in rates if new Government plans on rates reform go ahead.

Local authorities will be able to introduce rate alleviation schemes and potentially reduce commercial rates for businesses in their area, as part of a move agreed by cabinet.

Proposals include a six-month exemption from rates when a property becomes vacant to allow the owner to seek new tenants.
