Fears Brexit Could Impact On Local Employment

An Ennis Councillor fears that unemployment figures could return to recession levels as a result of Brexit.

Cllr Johnny Flynn believes many of Clare’s revenue streams come from industries such as tourism, which he says could be adversely affected by the UK’s exit from the European Union.

Clare unemployment levels have fallen by 40% in the past five years – from almost 10,500 claiming some form of unemployment benefit in 2012 to 6,075 last month.
