ESB To Halt Russian Coal Deliveries To Moneypoint ‘For Foreseeable Future’

The ESB says it will not be taking delivery of Russian coal to Moneypoint ‘for the foreseeable future’.

It’s understood members of staff at the West Clare facility have expressed concerns to management about the utility continuing to trade with Russia in recent days on account of the ongoing conflict with Ukraine.

The plant is believed to have several months of coal supplies left in stock, with around half of that having previously been imported from Russia before the current conflict began.

The ESB has told Clare FM it is continuing to monitor the situation on an ongoing basis.
