Clare FM’s Sally-Ann Barrett reports

With 481 students currently enrolled, Gaelscoil Mhíchíl Cíosog is one of the most rapidly developing schools in Clare, with growing pupil numbers coupled with Covid restrictions putting intense pressure on school facilities.

While the school had already secured funding for 7 new classrooms, the campaign for a new Halla or general purpose room and 2 new Early Intervention Rooms continued.

Today Education Minister Norma Foley visited the school to announce that due to its expansion the necessary funding is being made available.

A planning application will now be made for the construction of 7 classrooms, a halla and two early intervention units which it’s hoped will be up and running for the 2022/23 school year.

The addition of the Early Intervention Units to the Gaelscoil is a first for Ennis.
