Emergecy Department At UHL Remains Busy With All Non-Urgent Surgery Cancelled

The Emergency Department at the region’s main hospital remains extremely busy today.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 103 admitted patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick during morning rounds.

The UL Hospitals Group has this week appealed to the public to consider all care options, before presenting at the Emergency Department, due to exceptionally high demand, while all non-urgent surgery at University Hospital Limerick has been cancelled today.

Hospital management say the ED remains open 24/7 and urgent care is being delivered to those who need it most, but they’re warning anyone who doesn’t have a life-threatening or severe illness or injury will face a significant wait.
