Over €40 Million In Funding Announced For Clare Roads

Over €40 million in funding has been announced for improving and maintaining roads in Clare.

The major funding allocation comes as part of an investment package of €658 million aimed at restoring the roads network nationwide.

Clare has received €43.5 million from the Government for various works to be carried out this year on the county’s roads, bridges as well as other areas of infrastructure.

Of this, €19.5 million has been allocated to the Shannon Crossing Scheme while €13 million will go towards restoration improvement works.

€726,500 has been set aside for Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Works, with a number of projects set to benefit including St. Brigid’s Well in Liscannor, Poulaforia flood alleviation works and road edge protection at Lisbareen in Bodyke.

€615,000 will go to Bridge Rehabilitation Works at the likes of Shragh Bridge, Rathmeehan Bridge and Corragnoe Bridge.

An additional €529,000 has been allocated for Safety Improvement Works on Regional and Local Roads at various locations around the county such as Bothar Mór in Shannon, Lough South in Doolin and Bodyke village.

The Ogonnelloe traffic calming scheme meanwhile is set to receive €100,000 in funding support.
