After a busy weekend of club action, just 8 teams remain in the hunt for this years title.

Holders Ballyea survived a huge scare before beating O’Callaghans Mills by a single point to advance to the quarter final draw.

2014 champions Cratloe are also back in the race after they beat St Josephs by 0-27 to 0-11, while Peter Duggan hit 0-12 as Clooney/Quin advanced with a 0-17 to 0-11 win over Whitegate.

There was a dramatic finish as Tulla beat Inagh/Kilnamona by 2-11 to 1-12, with Daniel Vaughan making a brilliant save from a Pat Kelly penalty in the third minute of injury time.

It means the draw for the quarter finals will have Newmarket, Sixmilebridge, Eire Og and Clonlara in Pot One, and they will be drawn against the teams in Pot B, who are Ballyea, Cratloe, Tulla and Clooney/Quin.

Clarecastle and Feakle have one more chance to save their senior status after both suffered their third consecutive loss in this years championship.

Crusheen eased past the Magpies to secure their status for next year while Wolfe Tones are in the top tier for 2018 after beating their east Clare opponents.

The draws will also be made this evening for the intermediate hurling championship quarter finals along with the senior semi finals.
