County Clare Successful At National Tidy Towns Competition

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus, Alan spoke to Derek Clune, Secretary of Shannon Tidy Towns, Victor McSweeney, Owner of The Hazlewood Lodge and Committee Member of Ballyvaughan Tidy Towns and Councillor Mary Howard, Deputy Mayor of Ennis Municipal District to discuss the overall success of the county in the Tidy Towns Competition and the hard work involved. Derek spoke about the positive way the competition has impacted the town of Shannon and the joy the area received from achieving a Bronze Medal in the 5,001 to 10,000 population category. Victor commented on the hard work carried out by the Ballyvaughan Tidy Town Committee and what exactly went in to obtaining a Silver Medal in their category. Mary commented on Ennis’ success in the competition, with the banner capital being named Ireland’s Tidiest Large Urban Centre for 2022.
