Independent Councillor PJ Ryan has been elected as Clare’s first citizen this afternoon.
The Sixmilebridge-based representative was unanimously backed by his fellow Councillors for the role at today’s AGM.
It’s Cllr Ryan’s first term as Mayor, and he replaces Ennis-based Fine Gael representative Mary Howard.

Cllr Ryan will hold the title for 12 months, until June 2022.
