Council Salting Clare’s Main Traffic Routes As Cold Snap Hits

Clare County Council’s winter maintenance crews have been out in force overnight salting the county’s main traffic routes.

Temperatures dropped below freezing locally overnight, with a yellow ice warning remaining in place until 10am.

The local authority is understood to have used between 55 and 100 tonnes of salt overnight, encompassing around 700 kilometres of the county’s roads.
