It’s feared that a negative image of Kilrush is being put out there by publishing inaccurate commercial vacancy rates for the West Clare town.
Last month’s survey by GeoDirectory found that Kilrush has the second-highest rate of empty commercial properties nationally, at 26.2%.
But Cathaoirleach of the West Clare Municipal District Ian Lynch says this includes many buildings still listed as commercial, which are no longer in use.
