Colm Collins has confirmed he has stepped down as manager of the Clare senior footballers.

The Kilmihil native made the announcement after the Banners loss to Derry in the All Ireland championship at Pearse Park in Longford.

It sees the end of an era stretching back to October 2013, when he was appointed as the successor to Mick O’Dwyer in the role.

During his tenure, the Cratloe clubman oversaw Clare’s progress from Division Four to Division Two of the National Football League, which included being crowned Division Three champions in 2016.

In that time, Clare also contested two All Ireland quarter-finals.

In a statement released this evening, Clare GAA chairman Kieran Keating and COO Deirdre Murphy thanked Collins for his commitment over the last decade to Clare football.
