Clare’s seven year stint in Division Two of the National Football League has come to an end.

A 0-14 to 0-4 defeat to Derry, coupled with Kildare’s win over Limerick, means the Shannonside neighbours are both relegated ahead of next weekend’s final round tie.

It means Clare will not compete in the Sam Maguire championship this year, unless they can reach the Munster final.

Clare boss Colm Collins feels its important to keep spirits high in the group with the championship opener still to come.

Derry are now promoted, while the winners of next weekend’s clash between Dublin and Louth will join them in going up to the top tier
