Clare’s Water Safety Officer Advises New Sea Swimmers To Start Slowly

Clare’s Water Safety Officer is advising people who intend taking up sea swimming in the new year to start slowly.

People new to sea swimming are being urged to begin indoors to build up the strength and learn the safety techniques required.

It is recommended that people join a swimming group and begin with short amounts of time in the water to enable the body to become accustomed to the cold temperatures.

Water Safety Officer, Clare McGrath also reminds people to never enter the ocean while under the influence of alcohol.
