Clare Using Less Water Than National Average

Clare homeowners use an average of 374 litres of water per day.

The newly-published CSO data shows people here use slightly less water than the national averge, but a small number of homes are responsible for inflating the figures.

Average daily water usage in Clare varies from month to month – the lowest amount in November stands at 354 litres, with the highest of 389 coming in April.

Overall the average daily usage of 374 litres daily per household is nine litres less than the national average.

Nationally, the figures are skewed by a small number of households who have used very large amounts.

The top 10% of most efficient water customres use 36 litres a day – the most intensive users consume 50 times that amount.

Median figures have also been produced, which the CSO says is less sensitive to such distortions.

Again, Clare is more efficient than the national average with the figure here 26 litres less than the national amount.
