Clare TUI Rep Calls For Teaching Graduates To Be Assured Of Full-Time Contracts

A Clare Teachers’ representative believes the standard of education in local schools will rapidly deteriorate, if graduate teachers are not offered full-time contracts.

A new survey by the Teachers Union of Ireland has found that between September and October, one if five schools were forced to drop subjects due to recruitment difficulties.

Maths, Irish, Construction, Biology and Home Economics were found to be the most difficult subjects to fill, while last year just 22% of newly appointed staff were employed on a full-time basis.
