Clare Social Democrats Claim New Planning Bill Will Remove Local Influence

The Clare branch of the Social Democrats is raising concerns that a new planning bill due to be introduced by government will severely curtail the power of local authorities.

The Planning and Development Bill will be brought to Dáil Eireann on September 20th, with a view to expediting the construction process.

However, the 54th directive of the draft bill states that any public submission to zone land for residential use or otherwise will not be considered if deemed to interfere with an overall national strategy.
