Clare Roads Policing Superintendent Says Gardaí “Can’t Be Everywhere”

The head of Roads Policing in Clare says Gardaí “can’t be everywhere” and motorists must take personal responsibility.

New research from the Road Safety Authority has found that one in 10 motorists have driven after consuming alcohol in the past 12 months, with one in three admitting to consuming two or more drinks before getting into their vehicle.

The number of Gardaí working in Roads Policing fell by 47 last year as the amount of people who died on the roads increased by 20%.
